2022-23 Swimming Brisbane Awards: Congratulations Riley Burton!

Congratulations to our Year 10 student Riley Burton, who recently received an award from Swimming Brisbane.Riley won the 2022-2023 Brisbane Swimming Award: Swimmer of the Stroke: Distance Freestyle.

He was awarded the trophy and $1,000 prize money.

This award is open to all Swimming Clubs across the Greater Brisbane region, from eight-years-old to the Open age categories.

Not many swimmers receive this award and last year’s winner is now competing at the World Championships.

Riley currently swims at the representative level for Brisbane and will be going for Queensland rep level soon.

His swimming club – the Logan Vikings – also held their club awards night last Saturday and Riley took home two more awards.

Riley was awarded the Dean Pugh Memorial Champion Athlete and Brisbane Swimming Award.

The Dean Pugh Memorial Champion Athlete Award is presented to the athlete with the most number of FINA points.

The Brisbane Swimming Award is presented to the athlete with the most Swimming Brisbane points – with Riley earning 54 points.
