Aqua Babies Levels: Water Familiarisation & Water Safety | 30-Minute Lessons
B1 – Starfish: For Ages 4-6 Months. | FREE 6-Week Introductory Program.
Parents, carers or grandparents are given a safe and fun learning environment to introduce babies to the water through play and songs.
B2 – Seahorse: For Ages 6-12 Months.
Designed to give babies water familiarisation and enjoyment in the water, while building confidence and skills for both the baby and their carer.
B3 – Jellyfish: For Ages 1-2 Years.
As our growing babies begin to find their feet and walk on land, this class encourages them to gain confidence in the water, building life skills through fun games and movement through the water.
B4 – Turtle: For Ages 2-3 Years.
In this final parent/carer and toddler level, our little learners will start to build independence in the water and develop their breath control.
B5 – Octopus: For Ages 4 Years Plus.
These swimmers are usually too old for the baby-infant/parent-carer type classes, but not confident enough in the water as other children their age.
This class is designed to get these children up to speed alongside other children their age and skill level, with adult support still in the water.
It is about taking things slowly and getting each child very comfortable in the water, as they are taught water safety and the basics of breath control and buoyancy.

Learn To Swim Levels: Water Confidence, Stroke Development & Water Safety | 30-Minute Lessons
L1 – Clownfish: For Ages 3 Years Plus.
For children who cannot swim unassisted and cannot demonstrate general water safety.
This first level is designed to develop confidence in each child’s water familiarisation.
It teaches effective body positioning, freestyle kicking, long underwater pulls, the introduction of backstroke kicking, floating, full body submersion, and general water survival skills.
L2 – Lobster: For Ages 3 Years Plus.
For children who are confident in the water and can demonstrate basic water safety techniques.
Children will further evolve their foundational drills as they reinforce their body position, underwater pulls, plus freestyle and backstroke kicking.
They will learn how to manipulate their water movements for more developed water safety skills.
L3 – Platypus
This class is for older children who are new to swimming and focuses on the introduction of foundational skills in freestyle and backstroke.
It strongly enhances confidence in and under the water while introducing breath control.
L4 – Penguin
These children can demonstrate a reliable base for water safety and core drills.
This level now builds upon this foundation by introducing catch-up freestyle (four big arms) over a short distance, straight arm drills, enforcing the beginning of good habits in stroke pulls and coordination, plus the introduction of backstroke arms.
L5 – Seal: Half Pool
With a sound body position and efficient kicking, this level now introduces blowing bubbles, and rolling to breathe in freestyle over a short distance.
It also continues enhancing backstroke by building the arm technique.
L6 – Stingray: 15m
This level is designed to increase the strength and endurance of each child as they continue working on their freestyle and backstroke techniques over longer distances.
This includes bubble and breath in freestyle and the concept of alternating backstroke arms.
L7 – Swordfish: 15m
This level represents a milestone in each child’s swimming journey, as they have now completed the basic movements of freestyle and backstroke.
They will continue to practice these basic strokes, but at a higher level of intricacy, while also including the beginning of their advanced strokes – starting with breaststroke kicking.
L8 – Dolphin: 25m
Children continue to strengthen their core skills and basic strokes, while learning and developing their advanced skills, with breaststroke arms and butterfly kicking.
L9 – Shark: 50m | 45-Minute Lessons | Flippers Required
Children can now display a firm understanding and execution of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly kicking.
This level completes the four strokes with the development of butterfly arms, while initiating new drills to better prepare children for their transition over to the Canterbury Taipans Swimming Squad program.
