Class of 2025 Delivers Record ATAR Results

The Class of 2025 sets a new academic benchmark as Canterbury celebrates record outcomes across ATAR and vocational pathways
Following the release of both subject results and ATARs this week, Canterbury College is proud to share a summary of the academic and pathway achievements of the Class of 2025.
Already, many Year 12 students have secured university offers prior to ATAR release, while others have commenced apprenticeships and traineeships. As always, pathways to university and training are non linear, with offers continuing through November and December and into the major QTAC offer round on 15 January 2026.
By any measure, the ATAR results for the Class of 2025 represent the strongest academic outcomes in Canterbury College’s history, exceeding even the previously high water marks of 2017 and 2022.
ATAR Highlights for the Class of 2025
🎓 23% of students achieved an ATAR of 95 or above (equal highest ever)
🎓 54% achieved an ATAR of 90 or above (highest ever)
🎓 85% achieved an ATAR of 80 or above (highest ever)
🎓 Median ATAR 91.4 (highest ever)
In addition to academic results, 12 students attained a Diploma level qualification, and 29 students completed a Certificate III qualification, reflecting the breadth and strength of pathways available to Canterbury students.
These outcomes will place Canterbury College among the top tier of schools in Queensland as comparative data is released. More importantly, they reflect a cohort that has set a new standard, one future cohorts will seek to emulate, and feasibly, to exceed.
Behind every result, whether an ATAR of 79 or 99, is a story of a pastoral and academic team united in doing their very best for every student. In 2024 and 2025, the College deliberately set the bar higher for ourselves and for our students. The results speak for themselves.
The 2025 Dux of Canterbury College is Ben Stanley, who achieved an ATAR of 99.35.
The 2025 Proximae Accessit is Ranudi Attygalla, who achieved an ATAR of 99.2.
As Eleanor Roosevelt once observed, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
The achievements of the Class of 2025 embody that belief. They remind us that success is never accidental. It is the product of an academic culture that believes every student is capable of improvement, one lesson, one assessment, one examination at a time. It is no coincidence that Canterbury’s strongest academic results have come in a year when the Four Dimensions became a shared and embedded part of the College’s language and practice.
The College extends its congratulations to Mitch Staples, Rebecca Adamson, Tracey Clarke, and the Heads of Faculty and subject coordinator team for their tireless work in maximising student pathways and performance.
Most importantly, congratulations to every student, every teacher, and every family who has contributed to this historic achievement. This is Canterbury College at its very best, and it is only the beginning of the ambitious future we are building together.
Canterbury College Celebrates Record QCE Results Ahead of ATAR Release

We are pleased to announce the subject results for the Canterbury Class of 2025.
All students undertake three Internal Assessments (IAs) and one External Assessment (EA) in each subject studied.
The results of IAs and EAs are added together to create a score out of 100 for each subject. Students are also awarded an A-E grade for each subject, based on their score.
All Queensland students received their EA results, subject scores and grades today. ATARs will be released by the QCAA on 18 December.
The Class of 2025 have achieved at levels which compare very favourably to the top academic schools in the state. These are our strongest academic results in Canterbury College’s 38 year history.
| Grades by Subject | % Cohort |
| A in six subjects | 14% |
| A in five subjects | 21% |
| A in four subjects | 12% |
| A in three subjects | 8% |
Therefore, 55% of students achieved at least three As in their results issued today.
47% of all grades achieved by Canterbury ATAR students in 2025 were As. 44% of grades were Bs.
The average subject score across all general subjects was 86/100.
16 of our 21 subjects achieved their best ever overall average scores in 2025, which is a remarkable statistic, in and of itself.
The Principal, Dan Walker, reflected on the subject results of our Class of 2025 in anticipation of ATARs being released shortly:
“Underpinning each of these subject scores for each Canterbury student, is an engine of ambition, fuelled by outstanding classroom teaching and student engagement.”
“Careful mentoring of our students by teachers, Heads of Faculty, Heads of House and the senior leadership team sit at the heart of this success.”
“We aspire to be recognised as the number one coeducational school in the state and these results show that we are well on our way to achieving this ambition.”
About the QCE:
The QCE is Queensland's senior secondary schooling qualification. The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) issues the QCE. The QCAA provides student subject results to the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) for the calculation of ATARs for university entry. Many students also earn credits towards their QCE in Certificate or Diploma level qualifications completed alongside their academic studies.
